CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday that the team has signed a four-year contract with kicker Graham Gano. Gano is now under contract with Carolina through the 2021 season.

In 2017, Gano put together one of the best statistical seasons for a kicker in franchise history, earning his first career Pro Bowl selection. He hit 29-of-30 field goal attempts for a 96.7 percentage, a mark that led the NFL and set a franchise record, besting the old percentage record of 92.8 set by Joe Nedney in 2000. Gano also set a franchise record and tied the NFL postseason record with his 58-yard field goal in the Wild Card playoff game at New Orleans.

Gano led the NFL with a touchback percentage of 85.4, booming a franchise-record 70 of his kickoffs into the end zone. Gano started the 2017 season with 15 consecutive kickoffs resulting in touchbacks, the longest such streak in the NFL since the merger in 1970.

Since 2013, Gano has led the NFL with a touchback percentage of 76.3, landing 326 of 430 kickoffs in the endzone for touchbacks.

Joining the Panthers in 2012, Gano ranks second in franchise history with 670 career points, scored on 151 field goals and 217 PATs in his six seasons with the Panthers. Since he entered the NFL in 2009, Gano has recorded 906 career points, ranking ninth in the NFL over that span.
