CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — FOX 46 Charlotte is working to confirm the legitimacy of a reported offer to purchase the Carolina Panthers.
Signature Accounting, a full-service accounting firm serving clients throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Georgia, sent out a news release Tuesday stating their client, the Wittenburg Family Trust, submitted an official letter of interest to buy the team.
The release says that the firm and the Trust have been in contact with the offices of Gov. Roy Cooper and Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles.
However, when FOX 46 Charlotte reached out to the mayor’s office, a representative said they have not been contacted by the group.
We also spoke to a representative from Gov. Roy Coopers’s office, who confirmed someone from the firm had reached out and spoke to staff, but that has been the extent of the contact so far.
We’ve reached out to the Carolina Panthers for a comment as well.
