Davidson Wildcats will return to NCAA for first time in 4 years

WASHINGTON D.C. (FOX 46 WJZY) — The Davidson Wildcats are returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time in four years.

After winning the Atlantic 10 conference championship on Sunday the Wildcats earned an automatic berth into the big dance and they will now face the Kentucky Wildcats Thursday night in Boise, ID.

Davidson won the throne in D.C. Sunday night, knocking off the Rhode Island Rams in a 58-57 game.

Kelly Grady’s last minute shot gave the team a victory in the end. Head Coach Bob McKillop said he was very happy for his senior players.

“[I’m] so pleased about the reward of this experience for our senior class because they have committed themselves with a tremendous sense of teamwork and unselfishness that has put us right where we are,” Coach MckKillop said.

Back in 2008, Steph Curry took the Davidson Wildcats to the Elite 8 and then to the Final Four, but in the end, they lost to the Kansas Jayhawks.

We’ll see how far the boys make it this year.
