A woman has been charged after police say she shot and killed her alleged ex-boyfriend Wednesday evening at an east Charlotte apartment complex.

Around 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, November 9 Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers were called to the 5900 block of Fairmarket Place for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon arrival, officers found a man, identified as Christopher Bernard Watson, Jr., 27, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Watson was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators have charged 21-year-old Rece Cherrell King with Watson’s murder. King has been taken into custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
