Woman arrested for shooting man in leg in northeast Charlotte


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A woman has been arrested for shooting a man in the leg in northeast Charlotte early Thursday morning, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police. 

Natasha Sterling, 23, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Detective say they are still investigating and others may also be charged. 

Officers were called to the 4800 block of Abercromby St. just after 6:00 a.m. for an attempted break-in. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 50s who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. 

Neighbors reported hearing at least three gunshots in the area. 

Police said it appears the victim was shot elsewhere before he got to the home, and was “simply seeking help,” from the homeowner. 

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to CMPD, the man has some sort of mental deficiency and reportedly lives in a group home nearby.
