Woman arrested for setting house fire in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A woman has been arrested for intentionally setting a south Charlotte house fire early Sunday, according to the Charlotte Fire Department. 

Crews responded to the 5000 block of Queen Anne Rd. shortly after midnight for a house fire. Twenty-three firefighters were able to control the fire within 20 minutes. 

Fire officials said five adults were displaced and that the Red Cross is assisting them.

Investigators said that Jamie Ackerman, 37, is charged with first-degree arson and assault on a government official. She was booked at the Mecklenburg County Jail and given a $3,500 bond. 

This remains an open and active investigation.
