Winter storm closes North Carolina Zoo, area schools, more

North Carolina Zoo

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — Many schools and businesses are closed Monday after a winter storm dumped around a foot of snow across the State of North Carolina.

Many schools in the FOX 46 viewing area cancelled classes Monday, Dec. 10.

The Queen City saw less than 3 inches of snowfall, while snow came down even heavier north and west of Charlotte. In Asheboro, North Carolina animals at the North Carolina Zoo got a ‘snow day’ on Monday. Although – the polar bears and arctic foxes looked right at home!

This storm system is not quite done yet, but the bulk of the precipitation has come to an end.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of the region through Monday afternoon.
