UPDATE: Escaped inmate apprehended in Biltmore Park

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — UPDATE: 11/2/17 10:35 a.m. – Escaped inmate, Michael Calloway, 42, has been captured in Biltmore Park, authorities announced. 


The manhunt continues after an inmate escaped from a medical procedure in Asheville, North Carolina on Wednesday.

Around 1:28 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputy contacted Communications to notify them an inmate had escaped custody in the area of 1117 Hendersonville Road in Asheville.

The inmate has been identified as Michael Calloway, 42. He’s described as having long, salt/pepper hair, a long reddish beard and blue eyes. He is 6’1″ tall and weighs 175 lbs.

Calloway is believed to be in the Hendersonville Road/Deerfield area. Anyone with any information regarding Calloway’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (828) 250-6670 or 911.
