UNION COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — A Union County man is in jail after deputies say he violently attacked his friend outside of a Wesley Chapel home Thursday night, stabbing him in the neck, face and chest.
The stabbing happened at 9:30 p.m. at a residence located in the 1100 block of Deep Hollow Court.
Dylan Vanderschel, 20, reportedly stabbed his 19-year-old friend while he was sitting in a vehicle in his driveway. As deputies arrived on scene, they found the victim inside the house awaiting help while family attempted to control the bleeding.
Before being taken to CMC-Main, the teen told deputies that his friend, Vanderschel, had stabbed him.
Deputies went to Vanderschel’s listed address in Matthews. At first Vanderschel was not there but while deputies were at the home Vanderschel’s brother contacted 911 and reported that he was driving Dylan back home.
A short time later, the suspect and his brother arrived. Deputies observed blood on Vanderschel’s hands as well as in the passenger area of the vehicle he was riding in.
Following an interview, Vanderschel was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He remains in the Union County Jail. No charges have been filed against his brother.
Despite being stabbed multiple times, the 19-year-old victim was treated and released from the hospital and is recovering at home, deputies said.
