Two dog-related incidents send police to neighborhood in Fort Mill

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (FOX 46) — A 3-year-old child was bit by a dog Tuesday during the same time Chihuahua dog was shot and killed by a neighbor along the same street, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The two incidents happened along Blackwelder Road in Fort Mill.

Deputies on scene told FOX 46 Charlotte these two incidents are believed to be separate, but happened on the same road.

Deputies said the dog was killed on Blackwelder Road before they could arrive on scene. No word yet on why the neighbor shot the dog. The incident remains under investigation.

A woman claiming to be a family friend of the 3-year-old child told FOX 46 Charlotte it was a little girl who was attacked, but she sustained non-life threatening injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

The dog that attacked her was a family friend’s dog and has since been transported to Animal Control.

Anyone with information about this or any other case should call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.

FOX 46 Charlotte has a crew on scene. Check back for updates.
