Tis the season! CMPD collects donations for toy drive

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Tis the season – and Thursday morning it’s ‘toy distribution day’ as CMPD and volunteers are getting ready to make Christmas merry and bright for children around Charlotte.

CMPD partners with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools guidance counselors and teachers in elementary schools to identify children and their families who are in need of assistance during the Christmas season.

To qualify for the program, these children must be eligible to receive free or reduced lunch at school. In addition, CMPD officers and CFD firefighters will refer families with emergency situations.

Watch the deliveries live on Facebook:

What they need:

  • Toys for middle school aged boys and girls
  • Hats, gloves, scarves, and coats
  • Bikes
  • Money donations

Donation locations:

If you would like to donate toys, you can drop them off at any Charlotte Fire Station or CMPD Division Office. You can also drop off toys at the Christmas Project Kickoff or The Link “Drop Off Parties” at Promenade on Providence and/or Birkdale Village.
