Three arrested after Jeep stolen with 14-month-old child inside

BURKE COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Two men and one woman have been arrested after deputies said the group stole a Jeep from a gas station Sunday afternoon with a 14-month-old child inside. 

The kidnapping and theft occurred at 1:53 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 at the Jack-B-Quick/Marathon Station at Interstate-40, Exit 116. 

Burke County deputies were told a Jeep had just been stolen from the convenience store while the victim was paying for gas.  The vehicle had a 14-month-old child in it. The vehicle was located a few minutes later across the road from the store at a Burger King with the child still inside unharmed. 

A witness told deputies they spotted a black Mazda with three people inside flee the scene. Deputies were able to stop a vehicle matching this description at 2:49 p.m. on Wesley Chapel Rd. in Newton. The three occupants were taken into custody. 

Nolan Lamar Weaver, 20, of Connelly Springs, NC, is charged with second-degree kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of stolen goods, and larceny after breaking and entering. He is being held on a $100,000 bond. 

Dallas Christopher Hopkins, 33, of Newton, NC is charged with accessory after the fact and Christy Leeann, 37, of Claremont, NC is charged with accessory after the fact.
