Teen identified in deadly Walmart shooting in Huntersville

Authorities have identified a teenager who was shot and killed Monday night inside a Walmart in Huntersville. 

The victim, Jalyn Domonique Craig, 19, of Charlotte, was pronounced dead on scene, police said. 

The deadly shooting happened at 6:32 p.m. at the Walmart located at 11145 Bryton Town Center Drive. The first Huntersville officer on scene was in the Walmart parking lot when the shooting broke out and heard two to three gunshots. 

The officer entered Walmart and came in contact with several people involved in the shooting.

Huntersville police have learned that an altercation broke out inside the Walmart between several people. During the incident, those involved began to fight and gunshots were fired. 

Police said Craig suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was pronounced deceased inside the store. 

Four other people involved in this incident were taken back to the Huntersville Police Department where they were interviewed by detectives. At this time, authorities said they’ve identified all parties involved and are consulting with the District Attorney with, what if any charges will be filed.
