Suspect holds gas station clerk at gunpoint in northeast Charlotte robbery

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A man has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery that occurred at a local northeast Charlotte gas station early Sunday morning, police said.

Ronald Lynch Jr., 39, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.

CMPD said at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, November 5, Officer Woolcock entered the Circle K gas station located at 10409 Mallard Creek Road.

Upon walking into the business, Officer Woolcock was met by a female clerk who came out from the back office area. The clerk stated that there was a suspect in the back office armed with a firearm. She then ran out of the store.

Officer Woolcock yelled at the suspect to come out of the office and notified communications and requested assistance. The suspect, later identified Lynch, obeyed Officer Woolcock commands and walked out of the office and was taken into custody.

Detectives later determined that Lynch had entered the store and brandished a firearm demanding money. The female employee was then forced to the back office area at gunpoint by Lynch. When the employee heard the front door open she walked out and notified Officer Woolcock before exiting the store.

A firearm was later located in the back office area.

Anyone with additional information concerning this case or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334.1600.
