Surveillance video catches Fidelli Kitchen robbery suspect

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — Surveillance video shows a bold thief busting into a restaurant in Charlotte’s south end.

The burglary happened just after 4 a.m. Thursday at Fidelli Kitchen on Camden Road.

The video shows a man walk up to the restaurant, throw a rock through the front door and then kick his way inside. He then launches himself over the counter, grabbing two cash boxes before leaving.

“We invested in the cameras so the gentleman who decided to help himself to our front door this morning is in HD for the world to see,” said Fidelli Kitchen owner, Scott Richards.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Wooden Robot Brewery, which is around the corner, was broken into as well. Both robberies happened just minutes apart and the suspect also got in there through a glass door.

Richards says that’s no coincidence.

“I stopped by to shake the owners hand there and let him know that we were also a part of his morning and we traded information and we’ll keep in touch now, with the police as well.”

Richards says a passerby saw the broke glass and called the police. The restaurant opened on time, but evidence of the investigation remains. Richards says the real cost though is the sophisticated police work and resources that are needed to find the person responsible.

He has a message for the suspect.

“You know the gentleman that chose to do that this morning, I forgive him. I hope he gets his life turned around because this isn’t going to lead to anything good.”

Anyone who recognizes the person in the surveillance video or has information on these robberies is urged to call Crimestoppers.
