UNION COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — “It’s not worth sending them to school and then regretting it for the rest of my life and saying they should’ve stayed home,” mother of three, Holli Bennett said
Bennett reacting to a graphic message posted calling out staff by name — someone saying they were going to shoot up the school.
“It’s scary and it’s sad,” Bennett said.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office confirming the post. They said the threat was specific to Porter Ridge Middle, but they had no reason to believe the threat was credible.
Bennett not taking any chances even though her kids go to the neighboring Porter Ridge High School.
“It was better safe than sorry to just keep them home,” said Bennett.
Last fall the school confirmed two separate threats to students: one involving a knife, the other a gun
With the investigation ongoing, Bennett’s still not sure how she will handle Monday morning.
“I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if they should go to school. They are really never safe, that’s the thing. If there is heightened awareness today and higher security whats to stop that kid?
