Smoke, flames engulf living room of Gastonia home

GASTONIA, NC (FOX 46) — The Gastonia Fire Department responded to a house fire around 1:38 a.m. in Gastonia on Saturday. 

When firefighters arrived to 1044 Ridge Avenue, they discovered a one-story home with the front destroyed by smoke and flames. 

Twenty personnel and five apparatus were on the scene to battle the blaze. 

The fire originated from the living room of the home. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 25 minutes. 

No was injured and no one was inside the home at the time of fire, officials say. 

An estimated $30,000 in damages resulted from the fire. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
