Small earthquake reported in South Carolina

MONARCH HILL, SC — A 2.3 magnitude earthquake happened in South Carolina Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

USGS recorded the earthquake about 7:11 a.m. in Monarch Mill. South Carolina Emergency Management Division tweeted out the information at 9:41 a.m.

According to the USGS website, the earthquake’s depth was 2.5 kilometers, or 1.5 miles.
