Salvation Army deploying to SC in advance of Hurricane Matthew

The Charlotte Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team announced Tuesday they’re deploying to Georgetown, SC, in advance of Hurricane Matthew. 

Crews plan to leave at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 5 at the Salvation Army located at 4015 Stuart Andrew Blvd. in Charlotte. 

The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte said they’re preparing their mobile feeding kitchen (canteen) for response in communities impacted by the hurricane.

In a disaster, The Salvation Army partners with community agencies and emergency management to provide meals, drinks and spiritual and emotional care to first responders and disaster survivors.

The Salvation Army of the Carolinas said they have 20 mobile feeding units ready for disaster response; each mobile feeding kitchen has the capacity to serve 1,500 meals per day.
