Rowan County accused murderer turns himself in

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — UPDATE: Destin Lamar Sloan turned himself in to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office Tuesday afternoon.  Sloan has been given a $400,000 secured bond and will be transferred to Rowan County Detention Center.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s office is searching for a man accused of murder after he failed to appear in court on Monday. 

Destin Lamar Sloan, 25, is on trial for second degree murder. After getting out of jail on bond, Sloan did not come to court for his trial. Deputies are now trying to locate him.

Sloan is suspected of killing Kerry Gray, 39, after the two got into a fight on July 13, 2014 in the 100 block Maria Lane in Woodleaf, NC.

Sloan is described as a black male, 5’ 6”, 160 pounds, and having dark hair.  His last listed his address is 4475 Mooresville Rd., Salisbury, He also has the tattoo “MO$B” across his fingers on his left hand. Sloan is known to carry a gun, and caution should be used in any contact with him.

Anyone with information regarding Sloan’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
