Railroad construction projects shutdown roads in Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — FOX 46 Charlotte is warning drivers about upcoming road closures due to railroad crossing upgrades.

Earlier this week, we told you about railroad crossing upgrades happening on Central Avenue, between Lamar and Clement Avenues. Our cameras were rolling when a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School bus moved around the road closed signs and went across the tracks.

Railroad company officials with CSX said there are a number of railroad crossing upgrades starting this week and going into the following weeks. These upgrades include resurfacing the surrounding roadways and replacing parts of the track.

Each railroad crossing project will last no more than a week, as long as weather and no unexpected problems slow workers down.

Drivers should prepare to work around these areas where railroad crossings intersect with the following streets. Click here for the full list of closures
