Police respond to a carjacking in south Charlotte with kids in the vehicle


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A man and woman were carjacked at the Quick Trip Express located on Clanton Rd Sunday evening according to CMPD.

Police say the man and woman went inside the business, when a suspect stole their dark gray 2016 Ford F150 pickup truck which they had left running in the parking lot. Inside the truck were the victims’ two sons who are 9 and 13-years-old.

The 9-year-old immediately jumped out of the vehicle and the 13-year-old did the same a short time later as the vehicle was traveling southbound on S. Tryon Street. Neither of the children were injured from jumping out of the truck.

The suspect is described as a black male, believed to be in his 20s, medium build with a short afro haircut . He was last seen wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans. 

Neither the suspect or the stolen vehicle have been located. The license plate on the vehicle is North Carolina  EHL-1426.
