Police: Man shot during argument in Albemarle


ALBEMARLE, NC (FOX 46) — A man has been charged after shooting another man during an argument, according to the Albemarle Police Department.

Officers were called out to the 900 block of Wood Street around 9:21 p.m. on Thursday night. 

Officers found Joshua Ryan Hartsell lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his side.

Hartsell was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Officers learned the shooting occurred from an argument between two men and the suspect was still on scene.

James Dwight Russell was charged with a deadly weapon, with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

He was arrested and taken to the Stanly County jail where he received a $50,000 secured bond and his next court appearance will be December 19.
