CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a man died after being beaten overnight near uptown Charlotte.
Officers say they received a call about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday about an assault with a deadly weapon that had occurred in the 1500 block of N. Tryon Street. Once on scene, they say they found a man suffering from apparent trauma.
The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim will be released once family has been notified.
Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to the incident.
