Police: Man collides with dump truck, passes away days later


CHARLOTTE, NC — A man has died as a result of injuries he received in a head on collision late last week in Charlotte, according to police.

The crash happened about 3:18 p.m. on August 18 in the 10200 block of Mount Holly Road at Pine Island Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant traveling east crossed the double-yellow line, striking a dump truck traveling in the opposite direction head on.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 39-year-old Brian Christopher Bartlett was immediately rushed to Carolinas Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

Bartlett passed away Tuesday morning as a result of his injuries, police said. His family has been notified.

The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
