Police: Man arrested for S. Charlotte bank robbery


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A suspect had been charged in a South Charlotte bank robbery, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg police. 

Police have changed Ronal Lee Parker, 49, for his involvement in the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank at 712 Tyvola Rd.

Just after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Parker went into the bak and demanded money from a bank employee while brandishing what appeared to be a gun. 

Once Parker got the money, he fled the scene on foot. Officers spoke with witnesses who were able to provide a detailed description of the suspect. The officers quickly located Parker in the area, and after a brief foot chase, they took him into custody. 

The weapon used in the robbery was recovered and later found to be a BB gun. Parker was taken to the police station where he was interviewed.

He has been charged with common law robbery and is now in custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he was also served several outstanding warrants not related to this case.
