Police locate 66-year-old man with cognitive issues

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — The Durham Police Department has located 66-year-old James Godowitch on Saturday afternoon in Durham. He appears to be okay and in good health. His family has been notified. 

Godowitch went missing on Thursday, Nov. 3. Officers spoke with Godowitch’s wife who said her husband left their condominium around 8 a.m.to check their mail and did not return.

Detectives learned that Godowitch purchased an Amtrak ticket for a train that travels from Charlotte, not Durham, NC. Durham Police assisted in the investigation. 

According to police, Godowitch lived and worked in Durham until his family moved to Charlotte in April 2016.

Godowitch has been diagnosed with cognitive issues and his erratic behavior has caused great concern for his family, police said.
