Police investigating after child injured in NE Charlotte shooting


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — UPDATE: Police say 14-year-old obtained a gun and accidentally shot himself in the leg. They are investigating how he got the gun.


A child was injured in a northeast Charlotte shooting, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police. 

Around 4:30 p.m. the juvenile was shot once in the leg in the 1200 block of Stourbridge Lion Dr. Police arrived on scene and found the victim, who was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

The victim does not live at the home where the shooting occurred, and police say they aren’t sure where the child was shot. 

Medic says the injuries appear to be life threatening. No one is in custody at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
