Police identify victim, suspect in Hubbard Road homicide

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a north Charlotte home on Friday.

Police have identified him as 35-year-old Jonathan Vereen.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service at 4424 Hubbard Road where they found Vereen suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police have charged Jeffvory Hughey, 36, with first degree murder of Vereen, possession of a firearm by felon and shooting into an occupied property.

This shooting was not a random act of violence.

This is an ongoing, active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.
