Police identify man shot to death in west Charlotte; no arrests made

Police have identified a man who was shot and killed Sunday night in west Charlotte, marking the city’s 81st homicide of 2017. So far, no arrests have been made in this case. 

The victim has been identified as Kenneth Bernard Edwards, 23. His family has been notified of his death, police said. 

At 9:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 officers were called to the 4400 block of Roadway Street in response to an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, police found Edwards with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene by Medic. 

Detectives were on scene Sunday night canvassing the area trying to determine whether there were any witnesses to the deadly shooting. 

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
