CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found shot to death on the side of the road overnight in northeast Charlotte, police said.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Therrisha Steward, police said. Her family has been notified of her death.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were called to the 1400 block of Tom Hunter Road at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 to check the welfare of someone.
As they arrived at the scene, officers found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound on the side of the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
So far, no arrests have been made. This remains an open and active investigation.
