Police arrest man accused of cutting off electronic monitoring device


CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) — UPDATE: 10/4/16 (9:30 a.m.): Damien Montreal Billy was taken into custody Tuesday morning by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department after cutting off his electronic monitoring device two weeks ago.

Damien Montrell Billy is wanted for three counts of Assault With Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill, Discharging a Weapon in an Occupied Dwelling, Possession of Firearm By a Convicted Felon, Damage to Property, and Interfering with an Electronic Monitoring Device. 

CMPD said Billy was court ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device as a condition of his pre-trial release. 

On Monday, September 19, Billy cut off his electronic monitor and was last known to be in the area of the 1100 block of  E. 36th Street. 

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Billy should immediately contact the Electronic Monitoring Unit at 704-432-8888, option #3 or call 911.
