Police: 3-month-old baby taken by accused murderer found safe, suspect still on-the-run

UPDATE: The 3-month-old baby was found safe and unharmed. Police are still searching for the murder suspect, John Bennett. 


Charlotte-Mecklennburg Police are searching for a 3-month-old child believed to be with a murder suspect.

The murder happened Thursday, Jan. 11 in the 4100 block of Carlyle Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a woman who was dead in a house and a young child was also found unharmed.

Police say the suspect in the murder, Jonathan Bennett, 23, is believed to have taken his 3-month-old infant, Journei Bennett, from the home after killing her mother. 

Police have not yet issued an Amber Alert, but say it is in the works. They’re asking you to be on the lookout for the suspect. He was las seen driving an older white For Expedition with New York license plates HUP3071.
