Numerous threats made towards CMS on social media

CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) — Some Charlotte-Mecklenurg Schools have received numerous social media threats on Snapchat.

Kathryn Block with CMS, Chief Communications Officer made the following statement:

“We take all threats to the safety of our students and staff very seriously. CMS Police investigate every threat and work diligently with local and federal law enforcement agencies to exhaust all leads in the identification and arrest of anyone involved. The person responsible for the initial threat posted on social media yesterday has been identified, will be disciplined in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and may face criminal charges. We will continue to monitor social media and provide extra support on school campuses wherever needed. We ask our parents and families to help deter these incidents by discussing with their children the serious nature of these threats and the possible consequences to those involved.”
