North Carolina deputy killed during collision

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina was killed Sunday evening after colliding with another vehicle.

According to the Edgecomb County Sheriff’s office, the crash happened on Highway 111 just before 7 p.m. Deputy David Lee’Sean Manning, 24, was killed in the crash while on patrol. 

Officials say Manning collided with another car after he turned around to investigate a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle has not been located.

“We are truly saddened by the loss of Deputy Manning. All parties involved in this fatal collision will continue to be in our prayers,” the Edgecomb County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

Manning had been employed with the sheriff’s office since November 8, 2017.
