Motorcyclist identified in fatal W.T. Harris Blvd. crash


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the motorcyclist who died Monday in a serious accident involving another vehicle.

The accident happened around 7:23 p.m. Monday, February 27 along W.T. Harris Boulevard, at the intersection of Northlake West Drive.

CMPD said Samuel Sarks Krikorian, 40, was operating a Yamaha motorcycle traveling east on W.T. Harris Blvd. when he entered the intersection and struck the right side of a Chevrolet Malibu that was turning left onto Northlake West Drive.

The Malibu, driven by Courtney Banks, was attempting to make a left turn when Krikorian struck the right side of her vehicle.

Krikorian was transported to CMC-Main for life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.

Banks was taken to Novant Presbyterian-Main for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol use do not appear to be factors in this crash.
