Missing 17-year-old located safe in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — UPDATE: A 17-year-old girl who was reported missing by family has been returned home and is safe, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. 


The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 17-year-old girl.

Amy Jo Helms, 17, was last seen leaving her home in the 1900 block of Noles Circle around 4 p.m. on Monday, April 2.  Her direction of travel is unknown. 

Helms was last seen driving her father’s black 2002 Ford Mustang with white stripes on both doors. The vehicle has a North Carolina license plate of TPR-1620.

Helms is described as a white female with shoulder length blonde curly hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet – 6 inches tall and weighs 280 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and brown colored boots. Helms also has tattoos on her right forearm and left hand.
