Man with lengthy criminal history arrested for trafficking heroin, meth

LINCOLNTON, NC (FOX 46) — The Lincolnton Police Department arrested a local man with a lengthy criminal history after he was caught trafficking heroin and methamphetamine. 

Officers said around 4:46 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 they were called to the area of East Main Street and East Gaston Street, near U.S. Highway 321, to assist North Carolina State Highway Patrol with a vehicle stop. 

Upon arrival, officers assisted NCSHP on searching the driver, identified as Jeremy Lee Mays, AKA “Mayhem”, of Lexington, North Carolina. 

According to police, a significant amount of heroin and methamphetamine was located on Mays. The items were seized as evidence. The street value of the seized narcotics is between $1,000 and $1,500.

Mays was arrested and charged with DWI, careless and reckless driving, failure to maintain lane control, DWLR, failure to wear seatbelt, and failure to stop for a red light.  Additionally, Mays was served with outstanding warrants for common law robbery, assault on a female, and unauthorized use of motor vehicle out of Onslow County. 

Mays is currently being held on a $31,000 secured bond in the Lincoln County Jail. Mays had his first court appearance in Lincoln County District Court on Thursday, December 8.

Authorities said Mays has prior convictions for felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, felony breaking and entering, and felony first degree arson. Police said Mays is a validated gang member confirmed through the North Carolina Department of Corrections as a member of the Bound for Glory Gang, which is a White Supremacist Prison Gang

The investigation into this case is ongoing. The Lincolnton Police Department said they will continue to investigate Mays and any connection he has in this area as it relates to any illegal activity.
