Man charged with murder of Charlotte teen who died months after shooting


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who died from her injuries 9 months after a shooting incident in northeast Charlotte, police said. 

The shooting happened on Dec. 20, 2015 in the 1600 block of Vancouver Drive. 

Tanya Lashay Williams, 19, was dropped off at Carolina’s Medical Center at 2:34 p.m. with a gunshot wound. Multiple witnesses said Williams was inside a vehicle with other people when she was shot on Vancouver Drive. 

About 9 months later, on Aug. 11, 2016 Williams died from her injuries. 

Evidence gathered during the investigation led detectives to obtaining warrants on Arshaun Springs, 20, for murder. He turned himself in to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he remains in custody.
