Man charged with attempted murder in Rock Hill stabbing


ROCK HILL, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident Thursday night in Rock Hill, police said. 

At 6:23 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 police responded to WingBonz located at 1027 Oakland Ave. in response to a stabbing. 

Officers spoke with the victim, James Ewing, who had a stab wound to his chest. Officers also spoke with Aiyanna Nathaniel, an employee at WingBonz, who said Ewing came into the restaurant with a stab wound and she called police. 

Rock Hill police went to Ebenezer Ave Ext. where the stabbing occurred, where Anthony Avera was positively identified as the suspect. Avera reportedly stabbed Ewing and then chased him around a local yard with a knife. 

Avera is charged with second-degree assault and battery, and attempted murder. He is being held at the Rock City Jail.
