CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A man has been charged in connection to an early October shooting that left one person dead.
John Jeter, 60, who was taken into custody the night of the shooting, is now facing a murder charge on top of the initial charges of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Around 10:00 p.m. on Oct. 9, CMPD officers were called to a scene in the 2900 block of Baltimore Ave. where one man was shot.
Upon arrival, they found the victim, now identified as 53-year-old Willie Baker, with an apparent gunshot wound. Baker was taken to the Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
On Oct. 16, Baker died from those injured. Jeter was then charged with homicide.

This is the 74th homicide in Charlotte this year.
