Local rapper explains involvement in deadly Walmart shooting on social media


HUNTERSVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Local rapper, “Da Baby” also known as “Baby Jesus,” took to social media to address a recent deadly shooting that happened inside a Huntersville Walmart.

In a series of social media videos that were posted on his Instagram story and page Wednesday, the rapper claims he was inside shopping with his family leading up to the incident.

“Buying my baby some baby clothes,” the rapper said in one of the videos. “They wanna come show me how tough they is.”

The rapper states in the videos that two men approached him and showed a gun. He also says in his online explanation that security footage backs up his story. 

Huntersville Police told Fox 46 Charlotte that a fight broke out between a group of people and that one person died from the altercation.

The rapper offered his condolences to everyone involved.

Police have not filed charges. An officer told Fox 46 Charlotte the department is aware of the social media videos, but won’t release the names of those interviewed about the altercation unless charges are filed against them.
