Lincolnton man charged in stabbing death of father

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A Lincolnton man has been charged with murder after he stabbed his father to death Thursday afternoon. 

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has charged Nicholas Benjamin Lynch, 21, with second degree murder in the death of Oswald Byran Lynch, 59. The two apparently lived in the home at 1821 Tomes Rd. together. 

Just before 3:30 p.m. sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the home just off Buffalo Shoals Road for a domestic dispute call.

Upon arrival, officers found Oswald lying outside the front doorway with multiple stab wounds. A large knife was recovered from the scene.

Oswald was transported by Lincoln County EMS to CHS-Lincoln where he was pronounced dead after arrival.

His son, Nicholas, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and taken into custody for questioning. Following the interview, Nicholas was charged and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $1 million bond.

He will have a first appearance in Lincoln County District Court on Friday, Feb. 2.
