NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) — Los Angeles Police told The Hollywood Reporter that they are not investigating actor Brad Pitt on any allegations.
Pitt was reportedly under investigation by police and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services for allegedly getting verbally abusive and physical with his children, according to celebrity news website TMZ.com.
“We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing,” said Sgt. Barry Montgomery to THP. “To my knowledge, [Pitt talking to police] never happened. And right now, that is where our office is. We are not investigating any case, nor do we have any allegations against Mr. Pitt. We understand how rumors get spun up, and hopefully we can put a few of them to rest. We have no investigation involving Mr. Pitt.”
The LA County Dept. of Children and Family Services would not deny nor confirm to the paper whether they had launched an investigation.
“We have very strict confidentially laws that don’t allow us to confirm or deny the subjects of our investigations,” spokeswoman Amara Suarez told THR.
The alleged abuse is what prompted wife, Angelina Jolie Pitt, to file for divorce on Sept. 15 after two years of marriage and more then a decade together.
The Hollywood heavy hitters have six children.
The family was reportedly on a private flight the day before the filing when Pitt allegedly became drunk on the jet and went on a wild rant, screaming and getting physical with the children ranging in ages 3-15.
According to TMZ, a source close to Pitt said the allegations are not true.
“He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children,” adding, “It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light.”
The A-listers have already been interviewed and DCFS plans to interview the children, reported TMZ.
