Kings Mountain families still feel effects of December flooding

KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC — People living in Kings Mountain are still impacted by flooding in late December.

Creeks overflowed and washed away roads leaving many families stranded.

Peak drive, a private road, has not been repaired.

Repairs are the responsibility of the people living there.

Connie McFalls tells us that her dad and another neighbor have been walking through the creek to get to their homes.

“When he makes a grocery store trip, that’s a lot of groceries to haul up the road,” she said.

Neighbors are working on repairs.

Volunteers have dropped off dirt and large drainage pipes for a new road over the creek.

“I just thank God that we got the resources to get it fixed. It’s going to be a slow process,” McFalls said.

Neighbors don’t have an exact timetable for when repairs will be made. They expect it to take several months.
