K9 helps police catch man with heroin, marijuana, stolen gun

MONROE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A Charlotte man was arrested in Union County for having nearly 80 grams of heroin, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. 

Jason Eric Jenkins, 30, was stopped in a Walmart parking lot in Monroe. Detectives were alerted to the presence of the narcotics by a police K-9 Unit. 

 A subsequent search of Jenkins’ car revealed that he was in possession of heroin, marijuana and two handguns– one of which was stolen.

Jenkins has been charged with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of marijuana. 

He is being held in the Union County Jail.
