ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — The U.S. Postal Service and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office worked together to nab a man who they say was in the country illegally and trafficking marijuana.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) executed a search warrant at 182 Cypress Lane in Salisbury on Friday, Jan. 18 with the help of the U.S. Postal Service and the Landis Police Department.
According to investigators, over the past year approximately eight suspicious packages were sent to the Cypress Lane address from California; a known source state for high grade marijuana being shipped to North Carolina through the U.S Postal Service.
After a delivery of another suspicious package, investigators said they executed the search warrant and located approximately 11 pounds of high grade marijuana inside the package. The marijuana was valued at around $30,000.
Additional marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .22 handgun were also found inside the home, investigators said.
Mario Andres Solis-Delgado, 33, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana by possession.
Solis-Delgado indicated that he was a Mexican citizen and in the United States illegally. He was placed under a $50,000 secured bond and subsequently posted bond and was released.
