Hillary Clinton making North Carolina campus visits Sunday

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — College campuses were the sites for two Hillary Clinton campaign rallies in North Carolina designed to encourage early voting.

The Democratic presidential nominee attended events early Sunday afternoon at St. Augustine’s College in downtown Raleigh and later in the day at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She’ll appeared at the Raleigh event with women who have lost their children to gun violence in police-related instances. They’re called the Mothers of the Movement.

Clinton’s weekend visit underscores the importance of the presidential battleground state. Sunday marked the sixth day major-party candidates for president or vice president — or their spouses — have held public events in North Carolina.

And GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence is scheduled to visit Salisbury and Greensboro on Monday.
