Hickory Ridge HS resumes class after bomb threat prompts evacuation

CABARRUS COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Hickory Ridge High School was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a bomb threat, according to Cabarrus County Schools.

“I got a call from my daughter stating they are evacuating from the school because there was note from one of the students apparently,” said parent, Angelica Wilkens.

“It’s a scary situation to get a call for your child especially with everything that’s happening,” said parent, Amanda Townsend.

Students and parents tell FOX 46 the threat was written on a note saying a bomb was in the school and called for another Parkland High School.

School officials told FOX 46 Charlotte the high school was evacuated as a precautionary measure and that they were working with local law enforcement to investigate the threat.

Students were moved to the local middle school Tuesday morning before being let back in to their high school around 10:40 a.m.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department has cleared Hickory Ridge High School after the school was evacuated as a precautionary measure this morning.
