A 23-year-old North Gaston High School teacher has been charged with indecent liberties with a student, according to Gaston County Police.
Stewart Oakley Rice is charged with indecent liberties with a student by a teacher. Police began an investigation on Wednesday, November 16, after the school resource officer was told by a staff member at the school.
Police say Rice was interviewed and so was the female juvenile involved. Rice turned himself in at the Gaston County Magistrate’s Office. He was released on a promise to appear.
The school’s assistant principal, Doug Doorley, reported the sex offense.
